Gastrointestinal Surgery is an advanced Super Speciality at St. Elizabeth. The speciality deals with comprehensive and advanced surgical care of patients with diseases of gastrointestinal tract such as Esophagus, Stomach, Liver, Pancreas, Spleen Gall Bladder and Biliary System, Intestines, Colon, Appendix and Ano–Rectum.
All these advanced procedures can be performed by either open or minimally invasive techniques. GI surgeons are specially trained to do surgical treatment of tumours, as well as cancers of gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary system.
Other scope for this speciality is treating abdominal wall and other internal hernias, as well as expert management of trauma to the internal abdominal organs.
